Light Christian Life Center Rules and Regulations

Purpose:

      The purpose of the Light Christian Life Center is:

·       to under gird, supplement, strengthen, and complement the organizations and programs of St. John’s Methodist Church.

·       to provide quality leisure time activities in a Christian setting.

·       to reach and develop people for the glory of God.

Participation:

1.     All St. John’s members and anyone enrolled in a ministry at St. John’s.

2.     Eligibility to participate depends upon an individual’s willingness to abide by all policies and procedures, especially in terms of appropriate conduct and care of the Light Christian Life Center.

3.     Under-age children (toddler through 6 years) must remain with their responsible adult at all times throughout the Light Christian Life Center.

            Exception #1:  If prior arrangements are made under-age children may enter with a responsible youth.

            Exception #2:  Special programs and events of St. John’s where supervision is provided.

4.     All participants are asked to sign in and out of the building. Any child under the age of 16 must have adult supervision to be in the LCLC.

Guests:

1.     St. John’s members are urged to bring guests and be their host.

2.     Guests may leave without the St. John’s member leaving, but when the St. John’s member leaves, the guest must leave also.

Visitors:

1.     Visitors are individuals who are with outside groups.

2.     Visitors are the responsibility of the church or group with which they come.

3.     Visitors must comply with all policies and procedures of the Christian Life Center.

Entering and Exiting:

There are several doors in the Light Christian Life Center. The main entrance is the double door facing south and nearest to the St. John’s office. This is the designated entrance and is to be used to enter and exit the building at all times. All other doors are for designated use or emergency exits. Participants are asked to remain in the Light Christian Life Center. 

Loitering or sitting in cars in the parking lot is not allowed.

Dress and Behavior:

1.     The facility is to glorify God and each person participating shall “Do all things to glorify Him.”

2.     The Light Christian Life Center is a support ministry of St. John’s.  In the interest of influencing others for Christ, the speech, dress, and conduct of participants will be in accordance with Christian standards.

3.     Shirts and shoes along with other appropriate apparel must be worn at all times.

4.     Violation of any policies or rules will lead to loss of eligibility to participate in the Christian Life Center.

1.     No hard sole or black-sole street shoes may be worn on the playing court.

2.     Skating or roller blading will not be allowed in the building

General:

·       No activity will be permitted that is contrary to the established church disciples, or while organized church activity is scheduled (e.g. Y-ROC, Youth)

·       Persistent violation of any rules could lead to the loss of personal use of the facility.

·       No pets are allowed in the Light Christian Life Center.

·       Trustees will be responsible for the interpretation and enforcement of all regulations.           

·       No running or horseplay in halls, the stairs, game room, or restrooms.

·       All accidents must be reported to the Church Office.

·       Equipment is to be used for its intended purpose and cared for.

·       The church is not responsible for lost or stolen property.

·       No basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, baseballs, or volleyballs should be taken upstairs or in the restrooms.

·       Food for small groups (30 or less) must be confined to the kitchen area of the LCLC.

Items Prohibited:

      These items are not allowed in or on the property of the Light Christian Life Center:

·       Tobacco in any form

·       Anything considered a weapon

·       Any alcoholic beverage, controlled substances, sunflower seeds, or gum

·       Logo clothing suggesting the use of any of the items mentioned above

Keys:

      There will be “blackout” days for key holder use of the LCLC. These occur on special holidays and church special events. No key holder is to duplicate keys or pass keys for temporary use. 

Hours of Operation:

      Light Christian Life Center hours will be posted on the door of the main entrance and published in the newsletter.

      The Light Christian Life Center will close during regularly scheduled church-wide meetings and  Worship services and will remain closed during said activities.

      Since the Light Christian Life Center is a support ministry of St. John’s, the Light Christian Life Center schedule will not conflict with the St. John’s affiliated groups’ schedules.

Reservations:

      Only organizations of St. John’s and/or organizations and approved groups may reserve any part of the facility. St. John’s church affiliations have priority. All reservations for large group meetings and receptions must be made at least 60 days in advance. All groups must have adequate adult supervision and one adult must be the contact person and person in charge.  (For age groups 16 and under a one to five ratio of adults to children is recommended.) Separate reservations must be made for the gym, Rainbow Room, kitchen, youth room, and game room. All groups making reservations will be responsible for the program/activities desired. 

Fees:

      Fees will be charged according to the fee schedule established by the St. John’s Board of Trustees

      (Any meeting, which is served with a meal by a church group, is considered as church sponsored)

Gymnasium:

            Fees will be charged according to the fee schedule established by St. John’s Trustees.   Outside groups must show proof of $1,000,000 liability and $500,000 health insurance and sign a release.

            Team practice must be reserved through the Trustees. Personal equipment brought into the Light 

             Christian Life Center must be clearly marked. Gym shoes will be worn during participation.

            Shirts should be worn at all times. Lockers may not be locked with a lock.

Equipment:

            Equipment must be checked out and used only for its intended purposes.

            Individuals or groups that check out equipment will be financially responsible for equipment that is damaged, lost, destroyed, or stolen.

Rainbow Room:

            The Rainbow Room is a large meeting area of the Light Christian Life Center.  It is not to be used for any arts and crafts activities. Meetings in the Rainbow Room must be scheduled on the Church calendar. Outside groups will be charged a fee for rental of the kitchen.

Game Room:

            Game tables are placed so that each can be played without interfering with each other. DO NOT MOVE OR REARRANGE TABLES.  Every game has proper rules. Players are expected to respect them. Sitting on tables will not be allowed.

Video Room:

            All video games are to be approved and reviewed for proper ratings.

            No equipment is to be moved or removed from the Video Room.

Class Parties/Birthday Parties:

      Reservations must be made through the Church Office. Persons using building must pay $50 for clean up. Reservations should be promptly canceled if plans are changed. Food must be served in the kitchen area.

Blackout Days:

Certain designated days will be “Blackout Days.”  No one is to use the LCLC on “Blackout Days.”  Blackout days/times will be posted.

Kitchen: The kitchen will be governed by the overall St. John’s kitchen rules.
