Local Missions

I John 3:18... My dear children, let us not love with words or tongue only, but with our actions and in truth.

Mission opportunities means everyone, no matter how small or large, has the chance to...care, do, give, share and receive others in the name of Jesus Christ.

The following are local missions that St. John's support.   If you would like to make a donation or volunteer your time please contact our church office for more information.

 

 

Greenwood Food Pantry - financial/volunteer work at our local food pantry.  St. John members help serve lunch every third Monday of the month

Peanut Butter Missions - collect peanut butter to donate to food pantry

Salvation Army - financial/volunteer work for our local Salvation Army

Beacon Harbor - Beacon Harbor is a home for mildly handicapped adults.  Financial/ volunteer work for Beacon Harbor includes a monthly donation, special Sunday school class, Valentine's Dance, Christmas Party, Rainbow Choir, 300 Oaks Race walking partners and other special events.

Interfaith Ministries - financial support for this organization that donates food and supplies to people in need.

Good Samaritan Fund - The fund is supported by donations and is used to help local people in need. 

Indywood Glen Worship Service - Indywood Glen is a local assisted living home.  Dr. Stonestreet leads a worship service and Communion on the third Tuesday of every month at 2:00 pm.

Christmas in July -  School supplies and uniforms are collected and donated to local public schools.

White Christmas - St. John's members adopt from the Angel Tree and donate Christmas gifts to needy children.

Christmas Dinner- St. John's prepares and delivers Christmas dinners to shut ins and local people in need on Christmas Day.

Wesley Foundation - a donation is made to the Wesley Foundation of Delta State, Mississippi Delta Community College, University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University and Mississippi Valley State University each year.

Methodist Children's Home - a donation is made each year.

St. John's Weekday Ministries Preschool - The Preschool serves as a ministry of St. John's.  We believe that each child is a child of God and should have every opportunity to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually to his or her fullest potential.  St. John's is serving the families of the community with this opportunity. It is a vital mission of the church.
